Flos Carthami for Skin, Body, and Health

Flos carthami is a herb that is commonly used in traditional Chinese herbal medicine. Clinically, the Flos carthami Injection has been used concomitantly with other Western drugs and may be used concomitantly with β-blockers to treat cerebrovascular and coronary heart diseases, in China.

What are the benefits of Flos Carthami?

  • It may help in the treatment of blood stasis, especially in women with gynecological problems such as amenorrhea, postpartum dizziness, abdominal pain, retained lochia, and abdominal masses.
  • It may help with trauma, nonsuppurative sores, carbuncles, and dark, purplish erythema.
  • This herb may induce labor.
  • It might help to inhibit the growth of cancer cells.
  • It may help with incomplete expression of rash of measles.
  • It may help with chest Bi due to blood stasis.

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated during pregnancy.
  • Contraindicated for those with any bleeding disorder, such as menorrhagia, hemorrhagic disease, or peptic ulcer.
  • Overdose can cause continuous bleeding.
  • This herb may cause weight loss.

Drug Interactions

Use with caution for patients taking anticoagulants such as heparin, warfarin, and enoxaparin or antiplatelet drugs such as aspirin, dipyridamole, and clopidogrel as concurrent use may have an additive or synergistic effect.

Important Note:

There is not much scientific evidence saying that Flos Carthami can help with the above-mentioned benefits and medical conditions. Always consult a doctor before using herbs or any plant extracts.
